About the Training:
- Participants will learn the basic principles of Infant Mental Health and the impact that it has on relationships
- Participants will learn the biological impact on trauma and how it impacts the lifecycle
- Participants will understand the unhealthy compensatory strategies that individuals uses and the impact at adulthood
- Participants will understand Reflective Practice model and how to use this intervention to navigate relational trauma
About The Trainer:
Mr. Shearer earned his Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University in 1992 and attained his LCSW in 1994. He is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers and is a Master’s Level Addictions Professional credential from the Florida Certification Board, as well as Nationally Roster Child Parent Psychotherapist. Mr. Shearer is founding Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Tykes & Teens, Inc. in Stuart, Florida. Under his direction Tykes & Teens provides counseling services to children and their families: their services include victims of child sexual abuse and domestic violence, youth struggle with substance use and high risk behaviors, an Alternative to Out of School Suspension Program and in 2015 an Infant Mental Health program. In addition to creating these programs Mr. Shearer provides clinical supervision to the staff, and maintains a client caseload as well. His expertise is working with children who have been traumatized, specifically sexual abuse. In January 2014, Mr. Shearer became an adjunct faculty member at Florida Atlantic University in their Master of Social Work program.
