Foster Care Recruitment Doesn't Stall During Busy Holiday Season

A busy holiday season is the perfect time to ramp up foster-care recruitment efforts - and that's exactly what CCKids did in the last quarter of 2024.

From local parades to community light shows, Communities Connected for Kids staff were out in force to raise awareness for its need for foster homes.

Staff, foster families and local volunteers helped kick the season off by participating in the Hobe Sound and Fort Pierce Christmas parades; the CCKids float featuring local caregivers and a banner that encouraged onlookers to check out foster care.

And when the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds announced plans for a mile-long light show and nonprofit Christmas tree stroll, CCKids jumped at the opportunity to enter a tree. The tree, seen in the photo above, featured CCKids branding and ornaments hand crafted by CCKids staff as well as information about foster care and QR codes for access to a website.

CCKids also continued its yearlong 25by2025 campaign to recruit foster parents into December with a special Wish campaign highlighting the hopes and dreams of children in foster care on social media.

In total, 23 foster homes were added in 2024, with 14 added after the campaign start. The campaign will continue into 2025 with the slightly altered name - 25 IN 2025.

“While some may be disappointed that we did not achieve the goal of 25 new homes within the eight- month-long 25by2025 campaign, I am very optimistic that we will surpass our goal by continuing the campaign into 2025, " said Jill Poole, licensing and caregiver support director for CCKids.
