Understanding Intimate Partner Violence and the Impact on Children

May 7, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

This event has been postponed; please check back periodically for the reschedule information.

Both survivors and child witnesses of Intimate Partner Violence (formerly known as Domestic Violence) commonly experience trauma.  Being aware and able to recognize dangerous personality types and emotional and behavioral responses of child witnesses allows us the opportunity to intervene and therefore improve the safety of children and survivor parents and create a framework for recovery. This 8-hour interactive training will benefit professionals who interact with individuals dealing with intimate partner violence.  Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the following:

  • Dangerous Personality Types and Survivor Personality Traits
  • Pathological Relational Dynamics – The Source of Trauma
  • Emotional and Behavioral Responses of Child Witnesses of IPV in Families
  •  Long Term Effects on Child Witnesses
  • A Path Forward for Healing of Survivors and Child Witnesses of IPV

Who should attend?  Child protection advocates, mental health providers, victim advocates, educators, child care workers, social workers and other professionals dealing with IPV.
